Ingredients
Brown Butter Banana Bread
- 3 bananas, very ripe
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2-3/4 cup white sugar, use either depending on your sweetness preference
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste, or extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp silvered almonds
Maple Cream
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/8 tsp salt
Instructions
Make Banana Bread
- Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line an 8×4 loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Mash the bananas with a fork and set aside. Brown the butter over low heat and set aside to cool down.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, use a handheld electric mixer to whisk the white sugar, egg, and 1 tsp vanilla bean paste until it turns fluffy and pale yellow.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture into the wet mixture, then add half of the mashed bananas until everything has been added— fold everything until just combined, making sure not to overmix. Stream in the browned butter and mix.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan and top with silvered almonds or your topping of choice. Bake for 50-60 minutes until an inserted toothpick comes out clean/with a few crumbs.
Maple Cream
- Use a handheld electric mixer to whisk the heavy cream, vanilla bean paste, maple syrup, and salt until fluffy. Taste as you whip to see if you prefer more maple syrup.
