Iced Hot Chocolate

A classic creamy hot chocolate served with fresh whipped cream, but made iced!

Ingredients 

Chocolate Syrup

  • 35 g milk chocolate
  • 15 g dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp dark cocoa powder, or regular cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste, or vanilla extract

Iced Hot Chocolate

  • 1 cup milk of choice
  • Whipped cream

Instructions 

Make the chocolate syrup (Makes 4+ servings)

  • Roughly chop the milk chocolate and dark chocolate, then set aside.
  • In a pot, combine the dark cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
  • Add in the chopped chocolate and whisk until dissolved. Continue simmering for 10 minutes or until the consistency thickens slightly.
  • Turn off the heat and mix in vanilla bean paste. Set aside and let it cool.

Assemble the Drink

  • Add ice to a glass and fill the cup 1/3 of the way full with chocolate syrup. Adjust to your preference.
  • Pour in your milk of choice.
  • Top with fresh whipped cream and dust with more cocoa powder.
